How to access acupuncture and massage with Zen Attitude through VA Community Care
Step 1: Start with the VA

Schedule an appointment with your VA primary care provider (PCM) or relevant VA clinician.

Your VA care team will determine eligibility for Community Care based on your medical needs, availability at the VA, and program requirements.

If eligible, ask to be referred to a TriWest Community Care Network provider.
Step 2: Choose your community provider

Tell your VA team you’d like Zen Attitude in Honolulu.

The VA or TriWest will issue an authorization and coordinate an appointment with us. If you prefer, VA can select a provider for you.
Step 3: Receive your care

Arrive on time for your scheduled visit and bring your VA authorization information and a photo ID.

For follow-up sessions, confirm that VA has authorized additional visits before you book.

If authorization is not yet in place for follow-ups, our office will contact VA/TriWest to arrange the care you need.

Authorization first: Please wait for VA/TriWest to confirm your eligibility and authorization before scheduling.
Follow-up care: If VA has not authorized additional visits, we will coordinate with VA/TriWest on your behalf to request approval.
Billing: We bill TriWest/VA directly for authorized care. Any copayments are determined by VA; please confirm details with your VA benefits office.

Do I need a referral? Yes. Your VA care team or PCM (Primary Care Manager) must determine eligibility and issue an authorization before we can schedule Community Care visits.

Is there a copay? Copayments, if any, are determined by VA policy and your benefits. Please confirm with the VA.

Can I switch providers? If you’d like to change your community provider to Zen Attitude, contact your VA team to request an updated authorization.

How many sessions will I get? The VA/TriWest authorization specifies the number of visits and time window. We’ll review this with you before treatment.

Do you accept non-VA patients? Yes. We also welcome private-pay and select insurance for non-VA patients. Contact us to verify.
